Content Management

Many of our clients are happy for us to design their web sites, and to leave it at that. Infrequently they may come back to us with minor modifications to be made to certain pages, but this would be a rarity.

However some clients express a desire to have more control over the content on their site, and depending upon the specific need we can provide two possible solutions:

Templating system

We can set up a simple templating system, where the client has control over specific aspects of a pages content, but overall the design of a page is set out in advance according to the clients' needs (such a system creates many of the pages on the Isle of Wight Methodist web site). With this the client is basically able to alter the text on the page, but other aspects of the design and layout are fixed. The advantages are that this is easy to use, with the client having to give no thought to the design. However this only provides limited control over page content.

HTML Page Editor

Our HTML Page Editor system allows much greater freedom for the client to design their own page layout, content, and to add images. However the downside of this freedom is that there is a slightly longer learning curve for the client, and they also need to be more aware of basic design principles when creating the web site pages. However, for the client who wishes to have more control over their web site content, the benefits outweigh the disadvantages of the steeper learning curve, and initial higher costs.
